An existing CTA had been using a 5 NM separation standard whilst an adjacent CTA uses a 3 NM separation standard, yet the same sensors and ATM equipment are used in both volumes of airspace. A project was established to develop supporting documents for a change to enable 3 NM separation standards to be used throughout both CTAs. This project included the generation of a safety case required to support the application for AMC-25 Operational Approval.
