This course targets trainees who wish to pursue a career in air traffic control.Trainees will be equipped with the necessary fundamental knowledge, skills and attitude to enable progression to either on-the-job training as an ATC Assistant, or to rating training. The course can also benefit trainees who need to gain further in-depth knowledge in air traffic control and air traffic management.
Theory
Trainees will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the topics detailed in ICAO Annex 1 to achieve the standard nominated by the participants’ ATS State Regulatory Authority.

This course is for personnel who wish to become air traffic controllers in a tower environment. Trainees will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to enable them to progress to on-the-job training, aiming to achieve an Air Traffic Control Licence with an Aerodrome Control rating.
Theory (10 days)
Trainees will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of subjects detailed in ICAO Doc 4444 and Annex 1, to the standard required by the trainee’s State Regulatory Authority.
Practical (50 days)
In a simulated environment, trainees will be able to provide Tower and Ground Movement Control at an Air Traffic Services Unit. They will apply the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to deliver safe, orderly and expeditious air traffic
Upon Request
To prepare trainees for on-the-job training as approach controllers at approach control units that do not have the use of ATS electronic surveillance equipment.
Trainees will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of subjects detailed in ICAO Annex 1 and ICAO Doc 4444 to the standard required by the trainees’ state regulatory authority.
Practical (25 days)
In a simulated environment, trainees will apply operational planning control techniques and procedures to ensure a safe, orderly, and expeditious service to arriving, holding, departing, and transiting aircraft. They will manage the workload within the specified area of responsibility.

To provide trainees with the knowledge, skills and attitude to enable progression to on-thejob training with the aim of obtaining an ATC Licence/Certificate of Competence with an Area Control Surveillance rating.
In a simulated environment, trainees will apply operational radar and planning control techniques and procedures to ensure a safe, orderly and expeditious service to arriving, holding, departing and transiting aircraft. They will manage the workload within the specified ACS area of responsibility.
